Home Nations
Overview
The first Home Nations Championship was held at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff in 2000.
It was initially contested by England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales however Ireland withdrew after 2003. Petanque England, formally the English Petanque Association, won the inaugural championship and in the main have successfully defended its title annually.
Jersey joined the fold in 2016 and in 2024, on home soil, finally took the title from England.
The Home Nations is played over two days. Each nation supplies eight teams of three or four players. The winner is the squad that achieves the most wins after twelve rounds.
Due to the COVID-19 global pandemic, the 2020 and 2021 Home Nations were not contested.
Going into the 2027 competition, the standings are as follows: England has won 24 times, and Jersey has won once.
